A petition has been sent to BT regarding unreliable broadband services in Scotland's Western Isles.

The move has been organised by businessman Keith Morrison, who runs Wee Studio in Stornoway.

Speaking to the Stornoway Gazette, he stated: "I was experiencing massive slowdown in speeds between 5pm and 2am every night since June. Also most of the day at weekends."

Mr Morrison claimed any attempts to speak to BT about getting the problem fixed have "hit a brick wall".

More than 500 people have signed the petition, including Angus MacNeil, Scottish National Party MSP for Na h-Eileanan an Iar.

He told the newspaper he will be writing to Brendan Dick, BT director for Scotland, regarding the issue.

A statement from BT said it has not receive a large amount of complaints regarding broadband in the Western Isles, but will listen to the concerns presented in the petition and carry out "detailed checks" on its network.
