Close to a third of John Lewis' sales now take place online.
The retailer's parent company - John Lewis Partnership - has revealed the business sold £552 million worth of goods over the internet in the half year up to July 26th.
This represents an increase of more than 25 per cent and online sales now account for over 30 per cent of John Lewis' total.
John Lewis Partnership also owns the Waitrose supermarket chain and revealed this business performed well online in the first half of this year. Its total internet-based sales reached £161 million, representing growth of 54 per cent.
Sir Charlie Mayfield, chairman of John Lewis Partnership, commented: "This reflects the growing appeal of our omni-channel offer across both brands, including the success of click and collect, which now accounts for more than half of John Lewis orders placed online."
According to the British Retail Consortium, total online sales in the UK increased by 19.8 per in August.
