Broadband woes force Derbyshire business to ponder relocation header image

A business based in north Derbyshire is considering relocating due to the lack of reliable broadband in the area.

MTM Products, which is based on a trading estate close to Chesterfield, has struggled with poor connectivity for the past four years, according to its owner Neil Cotterill.

Speaking to the Derbyshire Times, he stated: "We have been troubled by internet issues since probably 2010 when we started getting interference on our broadband line. Four years on we are still struggling with poor internet connectivity.”

He also claimed BT has struggled to find a resolution to the problem. The data exchange in the area has already been upgraded, but it may be two to three years before street cabinets are improved and the business feels any benefit, Mr Cotterill claimed.

Natalie Ward, programme manager at Derbyshire County Council for the Digital Derbyshire Superfast Broadband scheme, said issues have been raised by other firms at the trading estate and discussions are ongoing to try and find a solution.
