One of the UK's most popular retailers has recorded an impressive increase in online sales.
Sports Direct has revealed its online trade increased by 26.8 per cent during the 12 months up to the end of April. This means the internet accounted for more than 17 per cent of its total sales.
Such figures are evidence of the growing popularity of using broadband for shopping, something which has been highlighted by numerous studies in recent months.
Indeed, it has been highlighted in a statement this week from the British Retail Consortium.
The organisation's director general Helen Dickinson stated: "Retailers have seen good sales growth in their online clothing and footwear offer and many are reporting positive results led by their online summer sales."
It is likely the growing popularity of online shopping played some part in high street footfall dropping 1.7 per cent in June compared to the same month a year earlier.
