One out of four Britons feel they would benefit from being able to do all their banking online, according to new research.
A survey carried out by Accenture and published yesterday (July 13th) found 25 per cent of all UK consumers would consider switching to an all-digital bank.
The figure rose to 33 per cent among respondents between the ages of 25 and 34 - the equivalent of one in three British adults.
Accenture also found that 80 per cent of consumers banked online using laptop and desktop computers once a month or more, while 27 per cent used mobile banking apps - up from just ten per cent in 2011.
"This year’s survey underscores the growing complexity in how consumers want to interact with banks in the digital age," commented Peter Kirk, a managing director for Accenture's Financial Services group.
Of course, in order for an all-digital bank to be feasible, customers will need fast and reliable internet connectivity from wherever they call home.
With fixed-line infrastructure still absent from many rural and hard-to-reach areas, satellite broadband might be the best way for consumers to access next-generation digital services.
