Broadband speed

Broadband is becoming an increasingly important consideration for people looking to buy a new home in North Lincolnshire.

This is according to Martin Hornsby of local company Hornsby Estate Agents, who told the Scunthrope Telegraph a growing number of house hunters think about this when looking at a property.

"I believe the speed of the internet is very important. Whether it is 15 Mbps, 20 Mbps or 50 Mbps, the availability of broadband is very, very important to most people, even the elderly," he stated.

Mr Hornsby added the web has become increasingly vital for his own business as more house hunters go online to look for potential properties.

Earlier this year, Rightmove claimed a slow broadband connection can knock as much as 20 per cent off the price of a home.

A study by the organisation found internet access is now seen as more important than nearby schools and transport links when choosing a new property.

Meanwhile, research by Go Compare revealed many people see broadband as the 'fourth utility' behind gas, water and electricity.
