The number of goods Britons buy over the internet continued to increase in April.
This is according to the latest figures from the British Retail Consortium, which showed online sales of non-food products rose 11.2 per cent last month, compared to the same period the year before.
Online performance helped the retail sector record like-for-like sales growth of 4.2 per cent on April 2013. On a total basis, trade increased by 5.7 per cent.
Helen Dickinson, British Retail Consortium director general, stated: "There are now clear signs that the retail economy is expanding as retailers offer great new products and competitive prices to consumers who are still watching their spending very closely."
Online shopping is one of the most common pursuits for broadband users in the UK and research from RetailMeNot has predicted the average person in the country will spend more than £1,000 over the internet this year.
