The internet plays a bigger part in everyday life with each passing year and many of the UK's most popular hobbies are now carried out online.
New research from website CircleMe has revealed the nation's top 20 leisure pursuits and at least eight rely heavily on the web.
Online shopping was ranked as the fifth most popular hobby, while social networking came in eighth.
Bargain hunting on websites like Groupon was rated as the 13th most popular activity, with blogging and internet dating coming in 17th and 18th respectively.
Giuseppe D’Antonio, CircleMe chief executive, stated: "Modern day interests and hobbies are no longer restricted to weekends and evenings, instead people are focused on their interests on a daily basis."
He added the internet is allowing people to engage in their hobbies everyday, something that never used to be possible.
The top three hobbies revealed by the survey were travelling, baking and sport.
