A Suffolk MP is to lead the campaign for better broadband for businesses in his constituency.

MP for Haverhill Matthew Hancock made the pledge after attending a meeting last week where it was revealed the Hollands Road industrial estate and surrounding areas will not be included in BT and the government's super-fast rollout, the Haverhill Echo reports.

"This is about business use and just because there are not that many domestic properties here in this part of Haverhill it doesn't mean we shouldn't have faster broadband," Mr Hancock stated.

He called on local figures to join him in campaigning for improved connectivity at the Hollands Road industrial estate.

Mr Hancock's comments were supported by John Mayhew, a member of Haverhill Chamber of Commerce, who said it is impossible to use broadband in the area during the afternoon without it "falling off the cliff".

As a largely rural county there are many parts of Suffolk where broadband access is slow and unreliable and the situation at the Hollands Road estate is not uncommon.
