ITV is the channel Britons tweet about most, according to new research.
Statistics from SecondSync have revealed 25 million posts about the organisation's programmes have been made this year, Broadcast reports.
This puts ITV ahead of BBC One (19 million tweets) and E4 (11 million tweets).
The X Factor was the most popular individual show, with eight million Twitter users making posts related to the singing contest. E4's reality programme Made in Chelsea came in second with 2.6 million tweets.
Andy Littledale, SecondSync managing director, commented: "Twitter has become important in measuring audience reaction and anticipation."
Britons are increasingly using broadband to connect with the TV programmes they watch via social media sites such as Twitter.
Research by Ofcom earlier this year revealed a quarter of people now engage in 'media mashing', which sees them carry out an online activity such as tweeting while watching TV at the same time.
