Morrisons will launch a new online shopping service in January.
The company revealed its plans to become a multi-channel retailer in its interim management report for the third quarter at the end of last week (November 7th).
Chief executive Dalton Philips said the new service will be distinctive and "unmistakably Morrisons". He added that around 50 per cent of the UK should be served by the end of 2014.
Morrisons will hope the launch of its online experience will revive its fortunes as the retail firm saw like-for-like sales fall by three per cent in the third quarter, when compared with the same period last year.
"Our low exposure to the sector's key growth areas of convenience and online continues to impact the sales performance of the group," the company stated.
The majority of supermarket chains have already embraced the possibilities of e-commerce, allowing customers to buy their groceries online and have them delivered to their home.
If you need a better internet connection to take advantage of such services, Avonline can help.
