Ofcom has announced new measures to make it easier for people to change their broadband provider.
The telecommunications watchdog will introduce a single switching process, in which the new company will take the lead on behalf of the customer.
It believes this will improve the current system, which has a number of different methods that can cause confusion for consumers.
Furthermore, in many cases the old provider is responsible for handling the process and companies are often guilty of attempting to delay or disrupt the transfer.
Claudio Pollack, Ofcom's consumer group director, commented: "The move towards one clear and simple system led by the gaining provider will result in a switching process that works in consumers' best interests."
The watchdog hopes to finalise these changes by the start of next year and bring them into force in early 2015.
If you're considering switching broadband provider, Avonline may be the ideal company to move to.
