Film streaming website Netflix is becoming increasingly popular with UK internet users, new research has revealed.

It was the fastest riser on the latest IMRG Hitwise Hot Shops List, which charts web traffic to retail websites in the country on a quarterly basis.

Netflix moved up 16 places compared to August 2012, meaning it is now the 11th most visited retail site in the country.

Other fast growers were Asda Direct (+13 places), Halfords (+11), Currys (+nine) and House of Fraser (+eight).

The most popular retail site in the country is Amazon followed by Apple and Argos, all three companies have maintained their position from last year.

Travel site Expedia suffered the biggest fall, dropping 15 places to 28th, while Travel Republic moved down to 38th from 28th last year.
