The chancellor of the exchequer is set to discuss improving rural broadband with local communities in Cheshire.
George Osborne, who is the MP for Tatton, will be attending a meeting on the issue in the village of Marthall on Friday (March 1st), the Knutsford Guardian reports.
Also in attendance will be representatives from Connecting Cheshire, a council-run initiative that aims to improve broadband services in the county.
The meeting will allow people to ask questions and receive information about rural broadband.
Jonathan Farber, the owner of local company Pressglue, said Knutsford and rural areas of Cheshire would benefit greatly from faster broadband speeds.
He commented: "Knutsford could easily stand out as a example ‘silicon town’ promoting greater digital business growth, employment and research if smaller businesses were better connected."
Mr Farber claimed there are numerous companies in the local area looking to progress and improved connectivity will "support their digital business aspirations".
