It is crucial that poor ADSL connections in Northamptonshire are revamped and replaced with superfast broadband connections if the area is to enjoy a period of economic growth, it has been claimed.
The Kickstart Northamptonshire County Prosperity Deal - a strategy to be presented to the government outlining how the county council will stimulate business development - has been laid this out as part of its scheme.
Councillor Jim Harker, leader of the county council, said that he is fully committed to improving the area's economic situation and driving expansion throughout Northamptonshire.
"This is about finding clever solutions to the problems that we face and using our influence as a county council to lever in private investment and build business confidence," he added.
Installing broadband in hard-to-reach rural areas is a "pivotal" part of this process, according to the report.
This follows the publication of a draft budget for Northamptonshire aimed at making serious savings across local government and the public sector.
