UK firms without a multichannel operation, whether because of a lack of preparation or a poor ADSL connection, will find themselves left behind by their rivals over the Christmas period, according to on-demand commerce solutions provider Venda.
In the current economic climate with competition among high street retailers more pronounced that ever, it is crucial companies gain an advantage however they can, the firm added.
Chief executive officer Eric Abensur told Internet Retailing: "The harsh reality is that those major retailers we've seen close down were those that failed to fully embrace the online and digital world."
He added that it is crucial UK firms convert browsers into buyers through ensuring they have the best engagement policy possible, offering a variety of collection and purchase options.
A report from Deloitte recently suggested that m-commerce could be a big factor this Christmas as more people use their smartphone to get online.
